Itai Schwartz, Adv. is an expert in tax offenses, money laundering, white-collar offenses, and indirect tax and customs law.
Itai has a vast experience of about a decade as a prosecutor and legal counsel in the Israeli tax authority – this, both in the legal department of the Customs and VAT division and also in the National Crime Investigation Unit (Diamond Unit) of the IRS and Real Estate Division.
As part of his various duties in the Tax Authority, itai represented the Tax Authority in many dozens of criminal cases and proceedings, including in complex cases with an extensive scope of evidence. Itai’s representation of the tax authority included an accompanying of investigative teams throughout the investigation; Representation in detention hearings; Representation in seizure and forfeiture proceedings; Managing criminal cases in various courts, including in appeal proceedings; Providing opinion on ransom requests and applications for conversion of administrative fines; Providing legal advice; And more.
Today, as part of his activities in our firm, itai represents individuals and companies (Israeli and international) in the field of indirect taxation, customs law, international shipping, import and export law, maritime law, and international trade law.
Also, itai represents in cases and criminal – economic proceedings involving tax offenses, money laundering and other white-collar offenses. Itai’s representation includes an accompanying of criminal investigations from the interrogation phase; Representation in detention proceedings; Representation in seizure and forfeiture proceedings; Representation of defendants in the courts; Representation in a petition for ransom and conversion charges in administrative fine; And more.
Alongside his work in our office, itai serves as Deputy Chair of the Economic Crimes and the Prohibition of Money Laundering Commission in the Israel Bar Association and serves as the Director of the Tax Law Workshop at the Hebrew University (under the direction of Prof. David Gliksberg). In the past, itai served as chairman of the representation of the legal workers in the Israeli Tax Authority.
